The 3rd project “GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING”

AFP World Academic Archive (AFPWAA) is a service that provides Japanese educational institutions with a database of news photos, video images, etc. distributed by AFP News Agency in France.

  AFPWAA is holding a workshop this year in support of the SDGs (17 goals and 169 targets for sustainable development) adopted at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015.

Each elementary, junior and senior high school student who participates in the workshop selects a news photo according to the SDGs goals that will be assigned to the subject, and creates a work with a Japanese title and commentary.

SDGs Point Labo@Japan (Round Table Com, Inc.) sponsored and selected the 3rd SDGs Point Labo@Japan Award and honorable mention.

健康とは身体面においてだけではないはずだ。この写真には手しか写っていないが、その表情は容易に想像できる。きっと嬉しそうに自分の手を見つめ、笑っているのだろう。それは普通の女の子以外の何物でもなく、そう考えた時に自分が無意識のうちに彼女を障害というフィルターを通して見ていたことに気が付いた。自分の手でマニキュアを塗るこの女の子に障害という言葉は相応しくない。他人の手を借りずとも自分の意思だけで行動できるようになればその人自身の心の健康にも、そして誰も障害の有無で区別されない社会にも繋がる。今は可能性を追求する時代だという。医療の発達で身体的な健康には手が届きやすくなった現在、次に求めるものは個人と社会の心身の健康だと思う。全ての人が心身ともに健康でいられる世界は、全ての人が同じ人間として認めあえる世界にしか実現しない。自分の意識は簡単に変えられる。それぞれの日々を生きている人たちを不幸な障がい者と勘違いしないために、まずは自分を変えていきたい。（ペンネーム：しゃぼん玉）

[Work] Reason for choosing photo

この写真はナイジェリアの医者が子供に、病院ではなく道で予防接種をしているところです。誰でも病院に行けるわけではないということが分かります。これはポリオという病気のワクチンで、ナイジェリア等の3カ国で流行しています。私は福祉と聞いて予防接種が思い浮かび、学校で集めていたペットボトルキャップの事を思い出しました。集めたキャップを売ったお金でワクチンを買うというシステムです。調べたところポリオは治療法がありません。だから、予防接種が大事だと思いました。予防接種は、健康でいるための一つの方法です。日本は公費で予防接種が受けられますが、それは国にお金があるからです。福祉においてお金は一番大事なことです。お金がなければ福祉を提供できません。しかし、世界には貧しい国がたくさんあります。そういう国は、他の国から助けてもらい、皆が福祉を受けられるようになればいいなと思います。
