アーサー王が作ったプリンってどんなものだろう？
マザー・グースに以下のようなものがある。
When good King Arthur ruled this land,
He was a goodly king;
He stole three pecks of barley-meal
To make a bag-pudding.
A bag-pudding the king did make,
And stuffed it well with plums;
And in it put great lumps of fat,
As big as my two thumbs.
The King and Queen did eat thereof,
And noblemen beside;

The Queen next morning fried.
どうやら英国が起源のケーキの作り方らしい。ここでは大麦で作っているようで、果物やバター等を混ぜて、バッグの中に入れて、ボイルしたらしい。翌日にはフライにして楽しむというのは、水餃子と焼き餃子のようで、面白い。この時のバッグって何だったんだろう？ソーセージのようなものだとしたら動物の腸等もつかっていたのだろうか？
