Thomas Pensonは1691年から1693年まで、英国紋章院の紋章デザイナーの契約をしていたようだ。17世紀にはプロの紋章デザイナーが存在したことになる。本を通じて、17世紀の職人との接点を、夜な夜なカビ臭い匂いとともに思い浮かべるのが、なかなか楽しい時間だ。
